University English requirements

What IELTS score do you need for the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC)?

The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto asks applicants whose first language is not English for IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 92 for its Doctor of Chiropractic program. Instead of a test, the Registrar can accept enough university-level coursework in English. Academic entry needs three full years of university study and a cumulative GPA of 3.00 on CMCC's 4.00 scale.Source: Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College official English requirements · checked 29 October 2026

Other tests and the coursework route

CMCC names only IELTS and TOEFL; PTE and Duolingo are not listed. Because applicants already need three years of university, many will have English-medium coursework, but whether it is enough is the Registrar's decision, so ask before skipping the test.

Applicants note on the application whether English is their first language.

College transfer and CEGEP applicants

College-to-university transfer students must complete at least one full year of undergraduate study (five courses or 30 credit hours) at an accredited university before entering. CEGEP DEC holders need two full years (10 courses or 60 credit hours) of accredited university study. No specific prerequisite courses are required.

Requirements vary by program and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your CMCC program page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test. Admission scores are separate from immigration rules: see IELTS for a Canada study permit and IELTS for the Canada PGWP.

Minimum vs competitive score

Where the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.

Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.

If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
