Chalmers' own rules

Chalmers says it will not make exemptions to the minimum scores of the recognised tests, and that it does not accept Duolingo. Do not send or assign test scores to Chalmers itself: follow the instructions from University Admissions, which handles documents for all Swedish universities.

Chalmers adds one route of its own for Indian applicants. A four-year Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology from an accredited Indian university counts as English 6 when that degree is what makes you eligible for master's study. Two combined degrees are not accepted, and a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology is excluded.

Chalmers' bachelor's programmes are taught in Swedish and need Swedish 3 or the Tisus test, so international applicants generally come in at master's level.

Verification, validity and other exemptions

University Admissions verifies IELTS online through the TRF number and can accept results older than two years if they are still available for verification. TOEFL can be verified for up to two years after the test date, and PTE results must be assigned to "University Admissions in Sweden" in your Pearson account.

University Admissions also accepts 60 ECTS taught in English in the EU/EEA, Switzerland or listed English-speaking countries, a degree with English as the main subject, or a bachelor's from listed African countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

Chalmers's English pages we read do not set a separate English score for the student residence permit. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Chalmers programme page and in your admission decision, so check it there before you book a test.
