What IELTS score do you need for Clark University?

All master's programs accept TOEFL (ETS code 5969), IELTS, PTE, Duolingo or PEXT 71 with no subscore below 65. Completing ELS 112 or EC English B2+ Pre-Advanced also meets the requirement. The School of Business exempts citizens of its listed countries, and graduates of an accredited degree in one of them with at least two years of in-person study; the list includes Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria and the UK, but not India or Pakistan. If you meet your master's program's academic requirements but have IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 75–84 (4 on the new scale), PTE 55–60, Duolingo 105–119, PEXT 65–70, ELS 110 or EC English B2 Upper-Intermediate, you can apply to the Graduate Pathway Program. Clark reviews these scores holistically, with weight on writing and speaking. The in-person semester runs in fall or summer with two noncredit English courses and two for-credit content courses, and you move into your degree with a B or better in content courses and a 75 average in English. Non-native speakers send an official TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or PTE score. Clark has no fixed minimums but gives indicators: TOEFL 4.5 with no section below 4 on the scale used from January 2026, or 85 with none below 20; IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6; Duolingo 120 with no subscore below 100; PTE 61 with none below 55; or PEXT 71. Scanned TOEFL, IELTS and PTE reports sent to intadmissions@clarku.edu are accepted, but Duolingo must come from its portal. An optional interview can serve as extra evidence of English. If you are academically admissible but need language support, Clark may recommend its English for Academic Success program, one to four semesters long, before you move into the degree.
