What PTE score do you need for Columbia University?

Columbia has no single PTE rule. Columbia Engineering accepts PTE Academic with no minimum to apply, but says applicants scoring 68 or lower may need to improve their English. Test rules and how to send your score

Columbia Engineering accepts the PTE Academic test and needs only one English test. You upload a copy of your score report with the application, the self-reported score is verified during review, and official scores should come directly from the testing agency. Current Columbia Engineering students applying again do not resubmit; others with expired scores must retest. The pages do not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

On the same FAQ, Columbia Engineering flags IELTS 7 or lower and TOEFL iBT 4.5 or lower, so the PTE line of 68 sits beside those. The Occupational Therapy MS pairs PTE 68 with IELTS 7.0.

If you fall short

Columbia Engineering waives the test for applicants with a master's degree earned on campus in the US, or a degree from a listed English-speaking country, and says no exceptions are made for other reasons such as fluency or years in the US. None of these pages describes a conditional admission or pathway route.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Columbia programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
