Deakin minimum scores by level
The Deakin English language requirements page states the 6.0 undergraduate and 6.5 postgraduate minimums. Test equivalents come from Table 2 of the Admission Minimum Eligibility Criteria Procedure, effective 17 December 2025. Associate degrees need IELTS 5.5. The tables do not name example courses for the IELTS 7.0 level.

Other accepted evidence and time limits
Deakin's table also accepts OET (overall C, C+ or B for the three levels), its own DUELI Test (6.0, 6.5, 7.0) and STAT Written English (140, 145, 150). Tests must be completed no more than two years before you start at Deakin, and qualifications no more than five years before, unless a course says otherwise.
For a combined degree you must meet the English requirement of both degrees, and Deakin will not approve waivers. Deakin's pages do not say whether IELTS One Skill Retake, IELTS Online, PTE Academic Online or TOEFL Home Edition are accepted, and Duolingo is not in its test table. Ask Deakin admissions before relying on any of these.

The Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) runs English for Academic Purposes. Completing EAP Level 3 at 60% meets the IELTS 6.0 level, EAP Level 4 at 60% meets 6.5, and EAP Level 4 at 70% meets 7.0.
Requirements vary by course, and Deakin can change them between intakes. Always confirm the score on your course page before you book a test. Your student visa has its own English rules, set by the Department of Home Affairs.
