DIT's B2 English equivalents
From DIT's language requirements for degree programmes at the Deggendorf campus (Language Centre, 26 August 2026). Each English-taught programme in the table, such as the M.Sc. Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the M.Eng. Sustainability in Polymer Technology and the M.Eng. Automotive Software Engineering, asks for B2.
| Test | B2 band in DIT's table | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS | 5.5–6.5 in each section | At least 5.5 in every band |
| TOEFL iBT (test centre only) | 72–94 | At least 72 |
| PTE Academic | 59–75 | At least 59 |
| TOEIC | Listening 400–485, Reading 385–450 | Both section minimums |
| telc | B2 | B2 certificate |
Other certificates and test rules
DIT also lists Cambridge English (B2 First, C1 Advanced), the College English Test (CET), GMAT, LanguageCert International ESOL and Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level as accepted English evidence. All language certificates must be less than 2 years old.
Only the internet-based TOEFL is accepted, and the test-date score counts, not MyBest. TOEFL CBT, ITP, PBT and Home Edition are not accepted, and DIT says that in general no home editions are accepted. Duolingo and IELTS One Skill Retake are not listed.

German, exemptions and Indian applicants
DIT's exemptions from a certificate all relate to German schooling or German-taught degrees; a medium-of-instruction letter from an English-taught degree is not listed, so plan on a test. For many English-taught programmes in the table, such as the M.Sc. Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, German at A2 must also be proven by the end of studies, through DIT's German course or a certificate. See DIT's master's programmes taught in English.
Some business programmes are taught in German and English and also need German at C1, as the M.A. Strategic and International Management does.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your DIT programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
