What PTE score do you need for Federation University?

Tests completed on or before 22 April 2026 use a separate table: for example IELTS 6.0 (5.5) equals PTE 50 with no band below 42, 6.5 (6.0) equals PTE 58 with none below 50, and 7.0 (6.5) equals PTE 65 with none below 58.

Your results must be valid when your course starts, including after a deferral. If you have results from more than one test, Federation considers only your most recent results. It does not accept any English test delivered completely online, which it describes as remote-proctored or at-home tests, so PTE Academic Online does not count.

Federation's page does not list PTE Core. Pearson's PTE Core FAQ says PTE Core is initially only suitable for work and migration visa routes to Canada and that PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study. The page's non-test evidence section describes IELTS 6.0 and 6.5 as the Competent level.

Federation accepts successful completion of an approved English for Academic Purposes (EAP) pathway course instead of a test, and says that if your results show you need extra support you may be able to take the EAP course packaged with your main course.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Federation programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
