What IELTS score do you need for Goldsmiths, University of London?

Goldsmiths accepts One Skill Retake only where it is UKVI compliant and taken at selected centres, and does not accept IELTS Online, PTE Academic Online or the online Oxford ELLT. PTE is not accepted for programmes run by its Centre for Academic Language and Literacies.

Goldsmiths accepts 75% in Standard XII English for programmes needing IELTS 5.5 to 6.5 and 80% for 7.0 or 7.5, only from these boards: Andhra Pradesh, CBSE, CISCE (ICSE/ISC), Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal. The result is valid for 2 years, or up to 5 years with a satisfactory interview.

Goldsmiths accepts a medium of instruction letter for a degree only from Botswana, Canada, Ghana, Palestine, South Africa, Singapore, Sierra Leone and Türkiye, so Indian, Pakistani, Nigerian, Bangladeshi and Nepali degrees do not qualify. WAEC and school routes for Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh are not stated by Goldsmiths.

Goldsmiths' Pre-sessional English ran online only in 2026: 12 weeks from 1 June for £6,800, 9 weeks from 22 June for £5,650 and 6 weeks from 13 July for £4,150. Per its entry table, a 6.5 degree takes 5.5 (4.5) for 12 weeks, 6.0 (5.0) for 9 weeks and 6.0 with 6.0 writing (5.5) for 6 weeks. You progress with 50% overall for postgraduate study or 40% for undergraduate.

Goldsmiths' Admissions Policy 2026 says international applicants pay an advance fee to secure their place, and where a study visa is needed it must be paid before the visa process starts.
