Where can I take IELTS or PTE in Medan?

Pearson's test centre finder listed no PTE centre in Medan or elsewhere in Sumatra on 30 October 2026. Its Indonesian centres are in Jakarta, Tangerang, Surabaya and Pontianak. Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia also have PTE centres, but there you pay Malaysian prices and must bring a passport.

Read on 29 and 30 October 2026 in the British Council's booking system, IDP's Medan test-date page and Pearson's price finder with Indonesia selected. IELTS costs the same at both providers. The British Council runs IELTS for UKVI only in Jakarta, and none of IDP's first 50 Medan sessions was UKVI.

Refund, transfer and payment rules are in our IELTS fee in Indonesia and PTE fee in Indonesia guides.

The British Council and IDP also test in Padang. For IELTS for UKVI or PTE, see our Jakarta guide, or Kuala Lumpur and Penang across the Strait of Malacca.

IELTS: book online with the British Council or IDP, choose Medan and pick a session; the venue address comes in your confirmation. Bring the same identity document you entered when you booked.

PTE: create a myPTE account with details that exactly match your ID, choose the test, then Medan or the nearest city with a centre, and pick a slot at least 24 hours ahead (Pearson's booking guide). Pearson's ID policy asks for a valid passport, and Indonesia is not on its list of country exceptions, so bring your passport. Anyone testing outside their country of citizenship must show a passport in any case. A KTP will not do for PTE.

Results: IDP's session listings say 1 to 5 days for IELTS on computer, and Pearson sends PTE scores typically within 48 hours (PTE scoring). Before you pay, take a free IELTS mock test or a free PTE mock test to check you are ready.
