IELTS fees in Indonesia by provider
In Indonesia the British Council's exams are run by its sister organisation, Yayasan Dewan Inggris Indonesia (British Council Foundation Indonesia). Its figures come from the booking page; IDP's from its IELTS FAQ, which says fees may change, and its live Surabaya sessions at IDR 3,600,000.
The British Council Foundation's UKVI page still shows Rp 3,951,500 for IELTS for UKVI, lower than the Rp 4,060,000 on its booking page, so check the amount in the booking system. It no longer offers IELTS on paper from 21 June 2026 and does not offer IELTS Online. IDP has also stopped IELTS Online bookings in Indonesia (IDP). Neither provider published a One Skill Retake fee for Indonesia.
| Test | IDP | British Council Foundation |

Transfer, cancellation and refund rules
The two providers now use the same deadlines. IDP's policy applies to bookings made from 14 July 2026 (IDP policy): 75% back if you cancel more than 15 days before the test, nothing within 14 days. One transfer is allowed, free more than 15 days out or with a 25% admin fee between 5 and 14 days, to a date within three months, and you must email the transfer form within 5 days of asking.
The British Council Foundation's terms match (policy), with requests made in the Test Taker portal and refunds taking 4 to 6 weeks. Both accept exceptional-circumstances claims with evidence up to two days after the test. UKVI tests follow separate policies. See our IELTS cancel, reschedule and refund guide.
| Time before the test | Transfer | Cancel |
|---|---|---|
| 15 days or more | Free at both providers (IDP: once) | 75% refund at both |
| 5 to 14 days | 25% admin fee at both | No refund |
| Under 5 days | Not allowed; treated as a cancellation | No refund |

Since 1 July 2026 the British Council Foundation takes payment online only, by debit or credit card, QRIS, ShopeePay, Jenius Pay, DOKU Wallet or virtual account, and you have one hour to pay after choosing a date (British Council). Registration needs a KTP or passport, and under-18s need a parent consent form.
IDP books online or through its offices and official partners; its booking system shows the payment options for each centre. Because every attempt costs Rp 3,600,000, practise free before you pay the fee.
