Where can I take IELTS in Indonesia?

IELTS runs in more than 20 Indonesian cities. On 10 October 2026 IDP listed 32 test centres across 18 locations, including Batam, Lombok, Malang and Pontianak. The British Council Foundation listed computer venues in 15 cities, including Bogor, Bekasi, Solo and Manado. Jakarta has the most choice, and the British Council runs IELTS for UKVI only in Jakarta.

IELTS test cities in Indonesia by provider

City lists come from IDP's Indonesia test centre finder and the British Council Foundation's venue list and dates page. Many venues are universities, language institutes or education agents. We do not list addresses because venues move; check the exact venue before you book, or use the ielts.org test centre finder.

How to choose a centre

Fees are the same at every venue (Rp 3,600,000), so choose on date and distance. Big cities have sessions most days: IDP's Surabaya page showed 602 upcoming sessions and Medan 244 on 10 October 2026 (IDP Surabaya). The British Council Foundation has added three new Jakarta-area venues, at Kuningan, Salemba and Cibubur.

The British Council Foundation runs IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills only in Jakarta, at its Office 8 venue near SCBD and the University Access Centre in West Jakarta (UKVI page). IDP's UKVI sessions did not show on the city pages we read, so check its booking system. If you live outside Java, budget for travel if you need a UK visa test.

Booking an IELTS test centre

Book online with the provider that runs the venue. With the British Council Foundation you choose a date, register and pay online within one hour; IDP books online or through its offices and official partners. Fees, payment methods and refund rules are in our IELTS exam fee in Indonesia guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which cities in Indonesia have IELTS test centres?+

Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Padang, Makassar and Bali with both providers, plus Batam, Lombok, Malang, Purwokerto and Pontianak with IDP and Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, Solo and Manado with the British Council.

Where can I take IELTS for UKVI in Indonesia?+

With the British Council Foundation, only in Jakarta: near SCBD and in West Jakarta. Check IDP's booking system for its UKVI venues.

Is there an IELTS test centre in Bali?+

Yes. IDP lists Bali and the British Council Foundation tests in Denpasar.

Can I take IELTS at home in Indonesia?+

No. IELTS Online is not available in Indonesia: IDP has stopped bookings and the British Council does not offer it.
