IELTS fees in Brazil by provider
British Council figures come from its UKVI page and the session listings behind its dates, fees and locations page, which showed BRL 1,360 in all eight of its cities. IDP sets the fee per venue: its live sessions showed BRL 1,350 in Curitiba, BRL 1,410 in Porto Alegre, Joinville and Londrina, BRL 1,430 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte and at Winner Idiomas in São Paulo, and BRL 1,460 at MTS Brasil and Cultura Inglesa Saúde in São Paulo.
The British Council also runs IELTS Online, the Academic test taken at home, but its IELTS Online page gives no fee and says it is not accepted by immigration authorities. Neither provider lists tax as a separate line.

Transfer, cancellation and refund rules
With the British Council (Brazil policy): cancel 15 or more days before the test for a 75% refund; within 14 days nothing comes back. Up to five transfers are free 15 or more days out, a transfer within 5 to 14 days costs 25% of the fee, and under 5 days it counts as a cancellation. IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow the UKVI policy: 75% back more than 14 days out, 50% within 14 days but more than two days out, 25% within two days.
IDP's reschedule and cancel page lists these rules for IELTS: cancel 15 or more days before the Listening, Reading and Writing date and you get the fee back minus an admin charge; within 14 days the fee is not refunded. With a medical certificate submitted within 5 days of the test, you get a refund minus a local admin cost, and a no-show loses the whole fee. The same page also mentions a five-week rule and tells you to check with your test centre, because centres handle changes slightly differently, so ask before you book.
Both providers accept special consideration for serious illness or emergencies. See our IELTS cancel, reschedule and refund guide.
