IELTS fees in the Gambia
Fees come from the British Council's Gambia page, and its booking system showed XOF 263,500 for sessions on 17 October and 14 November 2026. The ielts.org finder agrees. IDP does not run IELTS in the Gambia.
The Gambia page also lists IELTS for UKVI at XOF 278,000, but the booking system showed no UKVI computer sessions in Banjul on 14 October 2026. If you need it soon, IELTS for UKVI runs in Dakar at XOF 237,890 (IELTS exam fee in Senegal).

How to pay and what ID you need
The Gambia page says you pay through the online registration system by credit or debit card. Gambians can use a passport or national ID; anyone else needs a valid passport. Student IDs, voter IDs and driving licences are refused, and under-18s need written consent from a parent or guardian.
Your Speaking test may be on the same day as the other parts or within seven days either side, and the centre confirms the date. You also receive IELTS Ready Premium access and your reference number for the Test Taker Portal.

Cancellation and refunds
The British Council did not publish a separate Gambia cancellation page that we could read. Its standard IELTS policy, published on its Senegal and Sierra Leone sites, gives 75% back if you cancel 15 or more days before the test and nothing within 14 days; confirm with the centre before you pay. Illness, bereavement and other exceptional circumstances can be raised with the test centre before the test or up to two calendar days after it, never once results are out. The centre replies within seven working days, and refunds can take 4 to 6 weeks.
IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow the separate UKVI policy: cancel more than 14 days ahead for 75% back, within 14 days but more than two days ahead for 50%, within two days for 25%, and nothing on or after test day. A UKVI booking can be transferred only once, more than 14 days ahead, to a date within three months, and the centre may charge up to 25%.
| When you cancel | Refund (standard IELTS, British Council) |
|---|---|
| 15 or more days before the test | 75% (25% admin fee) |
| Within 14 days of the test | None, unless an exceptional-circumstances case is accepted |
