IELTS fees in Malawi
The standard fee comes from the ielts.org centre pages for British Council Blantyre and British Council Lilongwe, which show the same price. The UKVI and Life Skills prices come from the British Council's Malawi UKVI page.
The British Council's Malawi dates page offers three ways to take the test: IELTS on computer, IELTS on computer with Writing on paper (not for UKVI) and IELTS Online at home. No separate price was published for the last two. The fee includes IELTS Ready Premium preparation materials and free practice tests, and your booking email confirms the test time, venue and Speaking slot.

Transfer, cancellation and refund rules
Standard IELTS follows the British Council's Malawi cancellation, refund and transfer policy; you cancel or transfer in the Test Taker Portal. Illness, bereavement and other exceptional circumstances can be raised with the test centre before the test or up to two calendar days after it, never once results are out. The centre replies within seven working days, and refunds can take 4 to 6 weeks.
IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow the separate UKVI policy: cancel more than 14 days ahead for 75% back, within 14 days but more than two days ahead for 50%, within two days for 25%, and nothing on or after test day. A UKVI booking can be transferred only once, more than 14 days ahead, to a date within three months, and the centre may charge up to 25%. The British Council lists CEFR B2 for the UK Skilled Worker and Health and Care Worker visas: at least 5.5 in each of the four parts of IELTS for UKVI. B1 (4.0 in each part) still applies to people already on those routes before 8 January 2026 who are only extending (British Council). See IELTS for the UK Skilled Worker visa; nurses should also read IELTS for nurses in the UK.
