IELTS fees in Nepal by provider
The two providers charge the same for every test both offer. Figures come from IDP's Nepal fees page and live Kathmandu sessions, and from the British Council's booking page and dates page. Neither shows tax as a separate line.
IDP's fees page still lists IELTS for UKVI on paper at NPR 39,600, but the Kathmandu sessions we saw were computer-based except Life Skills, which runs on paper. Paper IELTS is being phased out worldwide; our IELTS in Nepal guide explains the change. Neither provider published a One Skill Retake fee for Nepal; IDP offers it at its Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan centres (IDP).

Transfer, cancellation and refund rules
The British Council publishes its Nepal rules in full (British Council policy): cancel 15 or more days before the test for a 75% refund (a 25% admin fee is kept); within 14 days there is no refund. Transfers are free 15 or more days out, cost a 25% admin fee between 5 and 14 days, and are not allowed under 5 days, when a request is treated as a cancellation. Refunds can take 4 to 6 weeks.
IDP Nepal did not publish a country transfer and cancellation page we could read on 9 October 2026, so confirm its terms with IDP before you pay. Illness and emergencies are handled as exceptional circumstances with evidence; the British Council accepts applications up to two calendar days after the test. See our IELTS cancel, reschedule and refund guide.

The British Council takes eSewa online, a transfer from your own bank account to its Standard Chartered or Nabil Bank account, or a deposit at a Nabil or Standard Chartered counter. Payments go to "British Council Services Nepal Private Limited", and you then email the receipt, your passport copy and IELTS reference number to confirm the booking (British Council). Registration needs a valid passport, and you must bring the same passport on test day.
Because every attempt costs NPR 36,000, practise free before you pay the fee with a full mock scored by BandLadder AI.
