How much is the IELTS exam fee in Sierra Leone?

You pay through the British Council's online registration by credit or debit card; a payment email arrives at once and the booking is confirmed within 48 hours (booking page).

Sierra Leoneans can use a passport or a national ID issued by the National Identification Authority; anyone else needs a valid passport. Student, voter, NASSIT and work IDs and driving licences are refused, and under-18s need written consent from a parent or guardian.

Standard IELTS follows the British Council's Sierra Leone cancellation and refund policy: 75% back if you cancel 15 or more days before the test, nothing within 14 days. You cancel in the Test Taker Portal. Illness, bereavement and other exceptional circumstances can be raised with the test centre before the test or up to two calendar days after it, never once results are out. The centre replies within seven working days, and refunds can take 4 to 6 weeks.

IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow the separate UKVI policy: cancel more than 14 days ahead for 75% back, within 14 days but more than two days ahead for 50%, within two days for 25%, and nothing on or after test day. A UKVI booking can be transferred only once, more than 14 days ahead, to a date within three months, and the centre may charge up to 25%. The British Council lists CEFR B2 for the UK Skilled Worker and Health and Care Worker visas: at least 5.5 in each of the four parts of IELTS for UKVI. B1 (4.0 in each part) still applies to people already on those routes before 8 January 2026 who are only extending (British Council). See IELTS for the UK Skilled Worker visa; nurses should also read IELTS for nurses in the UK.
