Where can I take IELTS in Pakistan?

UKVI only accepts IELTS for UKVI taken in person at an approved centre (British Council UKVI page). The British Council's locations table lists UKVI on computer in Abbottabad, Gujrat, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mirpur, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Karachi and Hyderabad, though its UKVI page names a shorter list, so confirm your city in the booking form. IDP's fee table lists UKVI at its Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujrat centres.

IELTS for UKVI Life Skills (A1 and B1) runs at British Council centres in Islamabad, Mirpur, Lahore and Karachi. In Islamabad and Mirpur, the British Council delivers some Life Skills tests by video call with the examiner, still at the official test centre. Paper-based IELTS for UKVI ended in Pakistan on 1 October 2024.

IDP's One Skill Retake is listed for Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Gujrat and Faisalabad. The British Council offers One Skill Retake after its own IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI on computer tests.

Price changes slightly with city and provider, so compare before booking: the British Council charges PKR 76,240 in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum and Gujrat, and PKR 75,600 elsewhere. The British Council lets you choose your Speaking slot, on test day or within a week before or after, subject to space. Its Listening, Reading and Writing sessions usually run 9.00 am to 12.00 pm or 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

For special arrangements (for example a modified paper for a hearing or visual disability), the British Council says these are available at all its Pakistan centres, and paper-based IELTS is reserved for such approved cases. Contact the centre before booking, as modified papers need notice.
