What IELTS score do you need for Indiana University Bloomington?

Luddy accepts only current TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo scores. Only non-native speakers with a US undergraduate degree applying to a master's are exempt, and all PhD applicants must submit a score. Kelley's MS in Information Systems takes TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo, needs the minimum at the time of application and rejects scores more than two years old. The School of Education wants a TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score from within two years of applying.

After admission, your department may ask you to take the Indiana Academic English Test on arrival and complete any English courses it recommends, and associate instructors must pass a separate spoken-English test (TEPAIC). See Establishing English proficiency.

Graduate waivers depend on the school. Kelley's MS in Information Systems waives the test automatically for a degree from an institution where English was the language of instruction. Luddy exempts only US undergraduate degree holders applying to master's programs. The School of Education exempts those at a US institution or with a US degree from the past three years, and lets strong English speakers ask the department for a waiver.

Undergraduates meet the requirement within the last two years with TOEFL 79, IELTS or IELTS Indicator 6.5, Duolingo 115, PTE 53, Cambridge 176, MET 53, SAT reading and writing 560 or ACT English 21, or through set IB, A-Level or AP results. Three years of secondary school in, or citizenship of, a listed English-speaking country also counts; India is not listed. To skip English support classes after admission you need higher scores, such as IELTS 7.5, Duolingo 130 or PTE 68.
