How much is the LanguageCert exam fee in 2026?

Gov.uk lists LanguageCert as one of the Secure English Language Test (SELT) providers, inside and outside the UK. Since 6 July 2025 its four-skill SELT has been replaced by LanguageCert Academic SELT and LanguageCert General SELT (gov.uk).

In the UK both cost GBP 200 and are taken on computer at a secure test centre, with results in five working days. LanguageCert describes the Academic SELT as suitable for a UK student visa and the General SELT as suitable for a UK work visa. In India both cost INR 16,430.

Use our LanguageCert vs IELTS for UK visa guide to choose a test, and LanguageCert to IELTS for score equivalents.

These rules are from LanguageCert's Rescheduling, Cancellation and Refund Policy for SELT (version 5.0, 2 July 2026). You can reschedule in your candidate profile; to cancel, email SELT customer service and complete a refund request form. LanguageCert replies within seven calendar days.

In an emergency such as illness, bereavement or an accident, LanguageCert may make an exception to the cancellation fee if you send official documents in English.

The online test is sold under PeopleCert's online terms of service (version 4.0, 17 August 2026). You can cancel within 14 days of purchase, as long as your booked exam date is at least 14 days away. You can reschedule in your PeopleCert account, where "a reasonable fee may apply".

If you are more than 10 minutes late for an online exam, you cannot take it and there is no refund; you can reschedule, but at a higher fee. Before you pay, take a free IELTS mock test if you are still choosing between tests.
