What IELTS score does Laurentian University require?

Outside Canada, you meet the requirement after three years of full-time study at an English institution in a country where English is the dominant language, shown on the official transcript; IB English A at 4 or British-curriculum English at the listed grades also count. Laurentian's international admissions page does not mark India as English-exempt, so plan on a test unless another route applies.

Test scores are valid if completed within two years of when Laurentian receives your application. You can upload unofficial copies in the myLaurentian portal; if a result cannot be authenticated, Laurentian may make a conditional offer asking for an official copy. CanTEST results must be sent directly by the testing agency.

Academically admissible applicants can enter through Laurentian's EAP Level 3 (CEFR C1) with at least 70%, which requires a test showing CEFR B2 to start, or Oxford International Digital Institute's online Pre-Sessional English with an ELLT score of 7 and no band below 6. Architecture and Nursing applicants are not eligible for conditional admission with the EAP.

Laurentian's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
