Validity, verification and what LUT accepts
For master's applications, IELTS Online, IELTS for UKVI, IELTS One Skill Retake (if all component scores are still valid), TOEFL Home Edition and MyBest scores are all accepted. Results are valid for two years from the test date and must still be valid 15 days after you submit your application. LUT verifies IELTS and TOEFL itself; PTE and Cambridge results must be shared from your test account.
Certificates of English proficiency and statements of English as the language of instruction are not accepted. A degree taught in English counts only if it was completed in an EU or EEA country, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the US, so most applicants from India, Pakistan and Nigeria need a test score. Duolingo is not accepted.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your LUT programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.

Minimum vs competitive score
Where LUT University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
