Exemptions and other routes
Undergraduate citizens of Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales are exempt. ELS Level 112 and a UM English Language Institute recommendation are also listed.
Graduate applicants who attended a college or university in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or New Zealand do not need to provide evidence of English proficiency.

Graduate admission and how to check
Full graduate admission needs an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above; provisional admission is possible with 2.7 to 3.0. GRE scores are not required for some programmes, including Mining Engineering.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admission cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Montana Tech programme page and in your admission letter, so check it there before you book a test.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Montana Technological University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
