What IELTS score do you need for the University of Montana?

Undergraduates may be exempt if they are native English speakers, completed two or more years at an English-medium higher education institution, earned a C- or better in a US college English composition course (not online), or completed three or more years of English-medium secondary school with a C or higher in IGCSE or A-level English. IB HL English 4+, AP English Language 3+ and qualifying WASSCE or GCE grades also count. Citizens of Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, the Commonwealth Caribbean and South Africa do not need proof unless English is not their native language. Exemption requests need an official credential evaluation.

UM's undergraduate page accepts TOEFL MyBest scores. The graduate page accepts the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, does not list PTE, and refers to Graduate School Policies A8.200 and A8.300 for exemptions and the exempt country list.

Undergraduates who score below the Pathway minimum may be eligible for conditional admission through the English Language Institute. Completing listed levels at ELS (Level 112), Kaplan (Higher Intermediate), English Language Centres (Level 11) or Education First (C1-1) also qualifies for full admission.
