What IELTS score does Mount Allison University require?

Mount Allison asks for proof "if asked". You can instead show at least three years of academic instruction at a Canadian secondary school, or at least 30 credit hours at a post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction, as recognised by Mount Allison.

For the MSc, the graduate admissions page says you must send proof of English from the testing agency only if your primary language is not English and you graduated from a university where the language of instruction was not English. A test validity period, and a position on IELTS One Skill Retake or IELTS Online, are not stated by Mount Allison.

If you meet the academic requirements but not the English score, you may be offered conditional admission and take Mount Allison's English Pathway Program, which the English proficiency page describes as offered online in summer and fall. Completing it gives unconditional admission with no further IELTS or TOEFL. University-preparatory English at partner schools such as the Canadian Language Learning College also counts.

Mount Allison's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
