What IELTS score does Mount Royal University require?

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet two separate requirements: the English course your program requires for admission, and English Language Proficiency. One way to meet the second is two years of full-time study in English in a country on MRU's list together with English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2 or an equivalent.

MRU's list names "India (English-medium school boards)" without saying which boards, so confirm with MRU Admissions that your board and English mark are accepted as the equivalent before skipping a test. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka are not on the list.

A test validity period, and a position on IELTS One Skill Retake, are not stated by MRU on these pages. Applicants who need more English can take MRU's LEAP program; completing LEAP 4 Advanced at B- (80%) meets the requirement for degree, diploma and certificate programs without another test.

Mount Royal's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
