What IELTS score do you need for Nottingham Trent University?

NTU lists PTE Academic at 59 with no less than 59 in any element for IELTS 6.0 (5.5) courses, and 62 with 59 for IELTS 6.5 (5.5) courses. It does not accept PTE Academic Online. NTU states that it does not accept the Duolingo English Test, and it does not consider medium of instruction letters as evidence of English unless listed for your country.

NTU accepts these alternatives for Student visa applicants. Its India page names the select state boards as Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. NTU cannot accept part-time, distance-learning or School of Open Learning degrees, or degrees studied in Hindi. A school route for Nepal is not stated by NTU.

NTU's Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes runs for 15, 10 or 6 weeks, and every course includes 6 weeks on City Campus. For 2027, the 15-week course (26 April to 20 August) costs £5,495 from IELTS 4.5 or 5.0, the 10-week course £3,650 from 5.0 or 5.5, and the 6-week course £2,200 from 5.5, 6.0 or 6.5, depending on your degree. You need a SELT such as IELTS for UKVI to study it.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your NTU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
