OET fee by delivery mode
OET is tailored to 12 healthcare professions, including nursing and medicine, and is delivered in three ways: on paper at a test centre, on computer at a venue, and from home as OET@Home (OET). Each mode's page lists the same fee, AUD 587, and OET's US pages show the same AUD figure. We found no separate local-currency price list on oet.com.
OET@Home may not be accepted by every recognising organisation, so check with your regulator before you book it (OET@Home). Australia's Department of Home Affairs, for example, accepts OET scores for tests taken on or after 7 August 2025 only when the test was taken at a secure test centre (Home Affairs).
| Mode | Fee | Booking window | Results |
|---|---|---|---|
| OET on Paper | AUD 587 | Until the published closing date | From 5 days after the test in India and the Philippines, from 13 days elsewhere |
| OET on Computer | AUD 587 | Up to 7 days before test day | In as little as 48 hours after all four sub-tests, 95% within 6 calendar days |
| OET@Home | AUD 587 | Up to 7 days before test day | As early as 48 hours after all sub-tests |
OET rescheduling fees
The fees below come from section 9.1 of the OET Test Regulations and the manage your booking page. You cannot use a reschedule to change test mode, profession or (for computer and home tests) country, and paper tests bought at a discount cannot be rescheduled: in those cases you must cancel and book again. A rescheduled booking cannot be reversed, and the Speaking sub-test can be rescheduled only once.
On paper you can reschedule up to 11:59pm local time on the day before the test, with no late option. On computer and at home you reschedule all four sub-tests together, normally up to 48 hours before your first sub-test. Moving only the Speaking sub-test costs AUD 30 within the same test administration, or AUD 100 otherwise. If you miss your Speaking sub-test, contact OET Support within 24 hours of its start time; it costs AUD 100, and without it your Speaking score is zero.
| Change | Before booking closing date | After booking closing date |
|---|---|---|
| Paper test, all sub-tests | AUD 120 | AUD 200 |
| Computer or OET@Home, all four sub-tests | AUD 120 | AUD 200 |

Cancelling OET and getting a refund
OET deducts a cancellation fee and refunds the rest: AUD 120 if you cancel before the booking closing date and AUD 200 after it (Test Regulations). On computer and at home you can cancel up to 48 hours before your test start time, but not once you have completed any sub-test. On paper you can cancel up to one week before test day; you must cancel the whole booking, and cancellations cannot be reversed.
If you do not attend and cannot show extenuating circumstances, there is no refund. For a traumatic event, serious illness or bereavement you can ask for special consideration before the test or within two calendar days after it; OET may offer a deferral or a full or partial refund.
A re-mark costs AUD 120 per sub-test and must be requested within 14 days of results being released; the outcome can take three to six weeks. OET reports a score from 0 to 500 for each sub-test and no overall grade.
Who accepts OET
In the UK, OET says it is accepted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the General Medical Council and for the Health and Care Worker visa (OET UK). In Ireland it names the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the Dental Council of Ireland among the organisations that accept it (OET Ireland). In Australia it is recognised by healthcare boards and councils and by the Department of Home Affairs (OET Australia).
OET also lists Immigration New Zealand for ANZSCO skill level 4 and 5 roles, ECFMG and more than 40 state nursing boards in the USA, and Canada's colleges of physicians and surgeons that have an English requirement (New Zealand, USA, Canada).
Nurses comparing options should read OET vs IELTS for nurses, the scores in IELTS for nurses in the UK and IELTS for nurses in Australia, and the grade equivalents in OET to IELTS. If IELTS suits you better, take a free IELTS mock test first.
