PTE, Duolingo and TOEFL equivalents
Brookes lists these scores for each IELTS level, with the same minimum applying to each component. It accepts Duolingo tests taken after 1 July 2024 that include all four modules. Whether IELTS Online or the online PTE is accepted is not stated by Brookes.

Brookes' main page asks for 60% in Standard XII English for IELTS 5.5 or 6.0 programmes and 65% for 6.5 or higher, from the CBSE, CISCE and Maharashtra boards. From an expanded list of 20 boards, including NIOS, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, it asks 65% for 6.0 programmes and 70% for 6.5 or higher.
Brookes' India entry page says it can usually consider 60% in Standard 12th English, without naming boards, which is looser than the main page. Brookes also says it may accept alternative qualifications if you do not need a Student visa, or cannot take a UKVI-approved test, so confirm your route with admissions. Nigerian applicants can use WASSCE English at C6. Its Pakistan and Nepal pages list only IELTS 6.0 to 7.0, so school routes there are not stated.
Pre-sessional English, interviews and the Student visa
Brookes' Pre-sessional English runs on campus for 12 weeks from June (£4,900) or 6 weeks from July (£2,600), and needs a UKVI-approved SELT issued in the last two years. For a degree needing 6.0 (6.0 reading and writing), you can join the 12-week course from IELTS 5.0 (4.5), or the 6-week course from 6.0 (5.5). Students on a pre-sessional, the International Foundation Diploma or a course below IELTS 6.0 need a SELT for the visa.
Brookes' India page says all offer holders must take a pre-CAS interview in Enroly CAS Shield.
For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Oxford Brookes programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
