Why is my PTE score delayed?

PTE results usually arrive within two days and at most five working days. Pearson says longer delays happen when a result is flagged for extra review to make sure it is right, or when biometric security checks trigger an investigation into who took the test. Check your spam folder and myPTE first; if more than five working days have passed, contact Pearson through its Customer Support form.

Why a score takes longer

Certainty: Pearson's system sometimes flags a result for additional review, which takes extra time, because the scores are used for important decisions.

Security: before releasing a score Pearson checks that the person who sat the test is who they claim to be. If its biometric systems identify an issue, an investigation follows.

Duplicate accounts: creating a second account to get round the retake rules delays the release of future scores (retake policy).

When scores are cancelled

Under the malpractice policy, proven malpractice can lead to revoked scores, a ban from future tests and suspended accounts. Examples include proxy testing, getting help during the test, bringing a banned item into the room even if unused, writing on the whiteboard before the test starts, using a locker during a break, harvesting or sharing test content, testing beyond the retake limit, false medical evidence and payment fraud. Pearson may share malpractice decisions with visa authorities and institutions that viewed the score.

Bookings paid by scammers with fraudulent cards can be cancelled and results revoked, so book directly or through an authorised agent (help centre).

Challenging a decision

If a score is revoked or an account banned, you can appeal within 15 business days through the customer service form. Stage One costs US$120 and Stage Two US$150, refunded if successful; appeals check whether Pearson followed its procedures, not your answers (appeals policy). For a score you think is wrong, see PTE rescore and technical review.

Pearson updates its policies from time to time. Check the linked policy page before you act. This guide is general information, not official PTE advice.
