What IELTS score do you need for Purdue University Fort Wayne?

Graduate applicants meet one of: TOEFL 80 with Reading 19, Speaking 18, Writing 18 and Listening 14, or for tests after 21 January 2026, 4.0 overall with Reading 4.0, Speaking 3.5, Writing 4.0 and Listening 3.5; TOEFL Essentials 8 with 8 in each section; IELTS 6.5 with Reading 6.5, Listening 6.0, Speaking 6.0 and Writing 5.5; Duolingo 115 with 115 in Literacy, Comprehension, Conversation and Production; or ELS Level 112. PFW lists countries exempt from the requirement, including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. India and Pakistan are not on it.

Undergraduates need one of: TOEFL 79 (4.5 for tests after 21 January 2026), TOEFL Essentials 8, IELTS 6.5, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 580 (code 1336), ACT 20 (code 1217), Duolingo 110, PTE Academic 58, ELS Level 112, a C or better in O, AS or A Level First Language English, IB SL or HL English 5, or Academic English for Purdue Fort Wayne with a C or better. Two years of US high school English or a US university English course with a C or better (not ESL) also count.
