What IELTS score do you need for Ball State University?

Required scores are TOEFL 79, IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo 110, PTE 53, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 500 or ACT English 21. Ball State accepts TOEFL MyBest scores, and test scores older than 24 months are not accepted. See English proficiency requirements.

You meet the requirement with a US high school diploma, an accredited US degree or 24 credit hours at an accredited US university, or the same from a listed country such as Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, the Philippines, Singapore or the UK. India and Pakistan are not listed, but completed study at an accredited English-medium institution may qualify for a waiver at International Admissions' discretion.

The Academic Bridge Program lets students slightly below the minimum (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 75–78, Duolingo 100 or 105, PTE 51–52) begin degree classes while studying part time in the final level of the Intensive English Institute. Conditional admission places you in the Institute until you meet the requirement; since Spring 2024 it needs at least IELTS 4.5, TOEFL 42, Duolingo 65 or PTE 40. All doctoral and online programs, and a listed set of graduate programs such as Clinical Psychology, Counseling and Biology, do not offer conditional admission.
