What IELTS score do you need for Robert Gordon University?

These course pages were read on 8 October 2026; none states a PTE score. Data Science MSc asks for less than the 6.5 RGU describes as normal for taught postgraduates, so follow your course page. January entry to Computer Science BSc is through RGU's International College only.

RGU's English tables accept Year 12 English or English Core from CISCE, CBSE and Indian state boards, excluding Punjab and Haryana; its India page says it stopped accepting those two boards in July 2026. Its Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh pages give IELTS only. Medium of instruction letters are not stated by RGU.

RGU's after you apply page says the deposit is stated in your offer letter; its India leaflet for 2026/27 shows a 34% deposit, such as £4,845 on a £14,250 net fee. Offer conditions may include an interview by RGU staff. Its deadlines page closes January 2027 international applications at noon on 6 November 2026, with the final CAS on 4 December, and warns it may close sooner. A £500 early deposit discount applies if paid by 13 November 2026.

RGU's January starts page mentions a 10 or 13 week pre-sessional English programme starting in October; its price and entry scores are not stated on RGU's pages.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your RGU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
