What IELTS score do you need for the University of Dundee?

Scores must be no more than two years old on your start date, and Dundee considers only your most recent test. It verifies results online with a Unique Reference Number before issuing a CAS and withdraws the application if it cannot. TOEFL must come from one sitting, without MyBest scores. Duolingo, IELTS Indicator and an in-house English test do not appear on Dundee's list.

Dundee accepts these school results if obtained within 10 years of your start date, though they may not be accepted for Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine or Social Work. Applicants who met the school English grade and then took a degree at home taught and assessed in English may be considered on a medium of instruction letter. Dundee lists no school qualification for Pakistan, Nepal or Bangladesh.

Dundee's tuition fee page says you cannot get a CAS until you pay a tuition fee deposit, and on 8 October 2026 still gave the minimum "for September 2025" as £5,000. Its admissions policy says deferral will not be permitted after an unsuccessful pre-CAS interview, except in exceptional circumstances; who is interviewed is not stated by Dundee. For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Dundee programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
