Indian, Pakistani, Nigerian and Bangladeshi applicants

Aberdeen's high-school English list accepts these school results if the certificate is no older than 10 years at the start of your programme; it names no Indian boards and excludes none. Its approved MOI universities page accepts a medium of instruction letter only from named universities, not their affiliated colleges. For Pakistan and Bangladesh it says MOI letters are only accepted for applications submitted via an official agent. Nepal is on neither list.

Pre-sessional English, deposits and the Student visa

Aberdeen's on-campus pre-sessional runs for 40, 30, 20, 15, 10 or 5 weeks, from £15,200 down to £1,900; the 5-week course runs 26 July to 27 August 2027. For a Standard CAS, a master's applicant needs UKVI IELTS 6.0 (5.5) for 5 weeks or 5.5 for 10 weeks, and an undergraduate 5.5 (5.5) for 5 weeks. A joint CAS for the 10- and 5-week courses into undergraduate programmes accepts non-UKVI tests, including Duolingo.

Aberdeen's postgraduate and undergraduate deposit pages ask for £5,000 before a CAS, with the old £3,000 honoured for September 2026 entry. They say certain nationals may instead pay 50% or 100% of tuition fees before a CAS, without naming the nationalities, and that the deposit is not refunded for failing a UKVI credibility interview.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Aberdeen programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
