How SDSU handles Duolingo scores
The undergraduate page says the Duolingo exam must be sent to SDSU directly from Duolingo. It states a two-year validity rule for TOEFL, IELTS and Pearson but not for Duolingo.
The graduate page notes that some programmes require higher scores, listed in each programme's catalogue section, and that programmes may require additional testing on arrival. Neither page gives a Duolingo subscore rule.
For comparison, the undergraduate page sets IELTS Academic at 5.5 and the graduate page at 6.0.

If your Duolingo score is below SDSU's level
Neither page describes conditional admission. Citizens of listed English-speaking countries can have the test waived, and the undergraduate page also accepts E3PT, iTEP, PTE Academic, SAT and ACT.
