What PTE score do you need for UCD?

UCD applies a single sitting rule: the minimum for every component must be met in the same test as the overall score. Results must normally have been issued within the last two years; for September 2027 entry, the page says they must have been attained since 1 February 2025. The page lists the test as the Pearson English Language Test (Academic) and does not mention PTE Academic Online or an institution code.

Pearson's own PTE Core FAQ describes PTE Core as a general English test that is initially suitable only for work and migration routes to Canada, and says PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study.

For comparison, the same page asks IELTS Academic 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each band, and says IELTS retake scores are not accepted.

UCD's English language pathway programmes count instead of a test: a UCD Pre-Sessional or Pre-Masters programme with an overall grade of C+ and at least C- in all components. The page adds that other evidence, such as a degree taken through English, may be accepted, and that an interview may also be required.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCD programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
