What PTE score do you need for Trinity College Dublin?

The notes under the table say results for all proficiency tests must be issued within two years before the start of your course. They mention TOEFL Home Edition and the IELTS single subject retake, but say nothing about PTE Academic Online or a Pearson institution code.

Pearson's own PTE Core FAQ describes PTE Core as a general English test that is initially suitable only for work and migration routes to Canada, and says PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study.

For comparison, the same table puts IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each band at Band B and IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each band at Band C. Trinity's PTE 69 for Band B is notably higher than the 63 that UCD, UCC and DCU publish for a similar IELTS level.

Applicants who miss the band can apply for the CELLT Pre-Sessional Summer Programme, which takes PTE 59 with 50 in each section, or 69 with 59 in each where a course sets higher requirements. The Trinity International Foundation Programme accepts PTE from 45 with 40 in each section.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Trinity programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
