UCLan's levels by test
From the University of Lancashire's English requirements page; old uclan.ac.uk addresses now redirect there. Results are valid for two years before your course starts. It accepts the IELTS Indicator and One Skill Retake; whether IELTS Online counts is not stated. For taught master's this page asks for UKVI IELTS 6.0 (5.5) or Academic IELTS 6.5 (6.0), while course pages say 6.0 (5.5), so confirm with admissions.

UCLan IELTS on course pages
These course pages were read on 8 October 2026; none states a PTE score. The adult nursing page says international students need IELTS 6.5 in each component, taken within two years of the start date, and that no equivalencies will be accepted.

The university's TELL test is taken online at home or at a partner lab. Applicants take it free, a retake costs £60, and others pay £100. For January 2027 entry the last request date is 18 November 2026 and the last test date 22 November.
Its Pakistan and Bangladesh pages say it is unable to process applications from students domiciled there, except MBBS through approved agents. Its India page pauses Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat, except undergraduates with CBSE, ISC, A Levels or IB, and says Year 12 English depends on the state board "see below", but no board list appears. The Nepal page lists no school route; MOI letters are not stated.

Deposit, credibility interviews, pre-sessional and the Student visa
The fees page asks for 50% of first-year tuition as a deposit to release your CAS (30% for MBBS, BDSI and BVMS). The visa advice page says you must pass a UCLan credibility interview if selected, notified by email after paying the deposit; who is selected is not stated. Its how to apply page sets 30 November 2026 for January 2027 applications and 7 December for the deposit.
The online pre-sessional course listed only summer 2026 intakes: 10 weeks (£4,000, from IELTS 5.0 with 4.5) and 6 weeks (£2,400, from 5.5 with 5.0). Later dates, and whether a SELT is needed, are not stated.
For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your University of Lancashire programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
