What IELTS score does the University of the Fraser Valley require?

The calendar says IELTS One Skill Retake may be used in calculating your overall and band scores, provided it is within two years of the original test date. Test scores are accepted up to two years after the test date, and UFV cannot process an application without a proficiency score.

You are exempt after at least three years of full-time study, averaging C or higher, at a school or college where English is the primary language of instruction in an English-speaking country recognised by UFV. India is not on UFV's list. Applicants with other CEFR C1 or C2 test results can ask the Office of the Registrar for an individual exception.

Applicants below the degree level but at the Qualifying Studies scores can take UFV's English upgrading and up to three first-year academic courses in their chosen program. A minimum grade of C+ then makes you eligible for degree or diploma studies.

UFV's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
