What Duolingo score do you need for UM-Dearborn?

The undergraduate catalog says you may take TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo more than once, but only the most recent score is considered, and scores more than two years old are not accepted. Scores can take two to eight weeks to arrive, depending on location and test method.

At graduate level, IELTS, TOEFL and the Michigan English Test are accepted for all programmes, while only some programmes also accept Duolingo. Graduate applicants need an official score report.

For comparison, both the undergraduate and graduate catalogs set IELTS at 6.5.

Neither catalog describes conditional admission. Transfer students can show proficiency without a test by completing two semesters of transferable English composition, equivalent to Composition 105 and 106, with a C or better in both.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UM-Dearborn programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
