What IELTS score do you need for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG)?

Graduate applicants show English proficiency with TOEFL 4 on the iBT (the catalog prints 79, and TOEFL Essentials 9), IELTS 6.5 or the IELTS Indicator at the same band, Duolingo 110, ELS 112, Kaplan English Advanced or PTE Academic 67. Scores must be no more than two years old on the date you submit your application. Note that PTE 67 is a high bar next to IELTS 6.5. See international requirements and the catalog.

You are exempt if you complete INTERLINK level 6 or the Mentora College Intensive English Program, come from a country where English is the primary official language, hold a degree from a regionally accredited US university, or are or will be a graduate of a non-US college or university where English is the primary language of instruction. That last route is the one Indian applicants with English-medium degrees should ask about. Departments can add their own rules.

Undergraduates are admitted directly with TOEFL 4, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 105, PTE 53, ELS 112, Cambridge C1 Advanced, iTEP 3.8, GTEC 1204, Kaplan Higher Intermediate or INTERLINK level 6, among others. The requirement is waived for US high school graduates, students at international or IB schools taught entirely in English, a C in English Composition at a US college, and students from Australia, Canada (English curriculum), the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa or the UK.
