What IELTS score does University Canada West require?

UCW says it now accepts IELTS One Skill Retake, and lists PTE Online and CAEL Online. The MBA page says English test scores are valid for admission for a maximum of two years from the test date; the English proficiency page adds that admissions may ask for further proof if your test is more than two years before your program start.

MBA: if English is your first language and you graduated from a recognised degree program in an English-speaking country, the test is waived. Undergraduates can instead show, for example, 30 credits of post-secondary study in a country where English is the language of instruction with a CGPA of 2.00 or better.

Undergraduate applicants who miss the requirement may still be considered through UCW's University Access Program (UAP). Applicants at either level can instead submit a certificate from one of UCW's ESL pathway partners; for example, finishing The Language Gallery Canada's University Pathway Program level 6 with at least 80% gives direct entry to undergraduate degrees.

UCW's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
