What IELTS score do you need for the University of Arizona?

Accepted credentials are TOEFL (MyBest scores within two years count; TOEFL Essentials 9.5 for master's programs only), IELTS or IELTS Online at 7 with no band below 6 (One Skill Retake not currently accepted), PTE Academic 60, the CESL Graduate English Language Endorsement and CESL's remote CEPT Full Academic test at 110. The Graduate College does not accept Duolingo. Departments may require higher scores. See international applicants.

Departments can recommend Conditional Admission for applicants who meet everything except English. You then study at the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL), at your own cost, and must send an English Language Endorsement within one year; you cannot take degree courses until then. Citizens of countries where English is an official language are exempt, as are holders of a US regionally accredited bachelor's or graduate degree. Arizona's country table lists India with "No" under English test required and a minimum degree of a three-year bachelor's showing 120 or more credits. Teaching assistants from non-English-dominant countries must still prove spoken English; Arizona does not say whether India counts as one.

Undergraduates whose primary language is not English, or who attended school in a non-English-speaking country, must prove proficiency unless they completed three years of regular English with a C or better at an accredited American high school. Arizona accepts IELTS Academic, Online, Indicator or One Skill Retake at 6.5, TOEFL Essentials 8.5, Duolingo 110 and PTE Academic or PEXT Express 60.
