PTE, Duolingo and other tests Bradford accepts
From Bradford's English language requirements page. IELTS is its preferred test. For 2026 entrants to degree programmes, Bradford also accepts IELTS Academic Online, LanguageCert Academic Online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, Oxford ELLT and Duolingo. PTE Academic and TOEFL count only for degree-level study, not for pre-sessional English or foundation years.

Bradford's country pages accept 70% in English from the CBSE, CISCE (ICSE) and ISC boards for India, and grade 6 or C6 in English in the Senior School Certificate or WASSCE for Nigeria. Other Indian boards and school routes for Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh are not stated by Bradford.
Bradford's Bangladesh page says it has temporarily paused applications from self-funded taught postgraduate students from Bangladesh, and its Pakistan page says the same for Business, Law, Social Sciences and Computing. Existing applications in those groups that have not reached the CAS stage will not be processed. Undergraduate, PhD and fully sponsored applicants are not affected.
Pre-sessional English, deposits and the Student visa
Bradford's online pre-sessional PREP ran 10 weeks (15 June to 21 August 2026) for £3,126 or 6 weeks (13 July to 21 August 2026) for £1,876. For a 6.0 (5.5) degree, entry is IELTS 5.0 (5.0) or Duolingo 90 for 10 weeks, and IELTS 5.5 (5.0) or Duolingo 100 for 6 weeks.
Bradford's CAS page asks for a £5,000 deposit, or £10,000 from applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria, by the deposit deadline. Its credibility checks page says Bradford conducts mandatory pre-CAS applicant support interviews.
For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Bradford programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
