Validity and the IELTS level

The page says you must achieve a satisfactory standard in one sitting within two years of the expected study start date. It lists Pearson Test of English (Academic) without a note on online testing and gives no institution code.

Pearson's own PTE Core FAQ describes PTE Core as a general English test that is initially suitable only for work and migration routes to Canada, and says PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study.

For comparison, the same page sets IELTS Academic at 6.0 with 5.5 in each skill for undergraduate study, 6.5 with 6.0 in each skill for postgraduate study, and 7.0 in every skill for teaching.

If your PTE score falls short

UC International College (UCIC) qualifications have lower entry points: the Certificate in Foundation Studies and the Diploma in University Studies both take PTE 42 with no band below 36. The page adds that completing the UCIC-taught Pre-masters One Semester (CertArts) on campus satisfies the English requirement for most UC master's programmes.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UC programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
