Which level your programme needs

Each programme page states whether you need English B or English A. The MSc in Global Health, for example, asks for English B. If you meet English A, you also meet English B.

You must document the requirement by the application deadline. A test passed after the deadline is rejected, so UCPH advises checking how long your results take to arrive.

IELTS One Skill Retake and TOEFL MyBest scores are not accepted. IELTS and TOEFL results may not be older than two years at study start (1 September or 1 February); Cambridge CAE and CPE results do not expire.

No waivers, and no English-taught bachelor's

UCPH says all applicants must document the requirement, native speakers included, and that it offers no waivers. It does not accept being a native speaker, a diploma from upper secondary, bachelor's or master's studies taught in English, statements from a university or teacher, or other tests.

Besides the tests, you can meet English B or A with Danish upper secondary English, or with listed English courses from Nordic or EU upper secondary schools, the IB or the EB.

On bachelor's study, UCPH's international programmes page lists 58 English-language master's programmes, and the Faculty of Humanities says all its bachelor's programmes are taught in Danish. UCPH states no IELTS score for bachelor's entry. UCPH's English pages we read do not set a separate English score for the student residence permit or visa.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UCPH programme page and in your admission decision, so check it there before you book a test.
