What IELTS score do you need for the University of Leicester?

From Leicester's equivalent qualifications page. Any test must be under two years old at the start of your degree. IELTS Academic, IELTS Online and IELTS One Skill Retake are all accepted at the same bands. Minimum sub-scores: IELTS 5.5 in each skill, PTE 59 in each skill, and Duolingo 95 in Literacy, Production, Comprehension and Conversation.

Leicester's India page gives 70% for every IELTS level from both National and State boards, which differs from the table below for some levels, so confirm with admissions. The India page also accepts an undergraduate degree from Anna, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi or Madras universities, an IIM or an IIT.

Leicester's Pakistan page says a four-year bachelor's degree with a medium of instruction letter from listed universities, including LUMS, NUST, Quaid-i-Azam and the University of the Punjab, may be considered case by case. Its Nigeria page says postgraduate applicants with a year or more at a recognised Nigerian university need no further evidence. A route for Nepali school qualifications is not stated by Leicester.

Leicester's English Language Teaching Unit offers pre-sessional courses from 2 to 40 weeks, with start dates all year round depending on your level. Courses run 21 hours a week in classes of at most 16. Leicester says English and Student visa requirements are different for these courses, and it may require a test set by the unit if your English is in doubt.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Leicester programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
