University English requirements

What PTE score do you need for the University of North Texas?

The University of North Texas asks international applicants for PTE 53, submitted electronically through Pearson. The test must be taken within two years before you apply, and scores expire after two years. Scores must come from a single test administration, because UNT does not accept combined or superscored results. UNT also does not accept medium of instruction letters.

Test rules and how to send your score

Submit official PTE scores electronically through Pearson, and make sure the name and date of birth on the score report match your application. The myUNT to-do list can take up to 10 business days to update. Expired scores are accepted only for students continuously enrolled at a US college since before they expired. The page does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

For comparison, the same page sets IELTS Academic at 6.0 overall and excludes the IELTS One Skill Retake.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UNT programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
