What IELTS score do you need for the University of Oslo?

UiO does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake or TOEFL MyBest scores. You cannot submit IELTS results through an institutional code: upload a copy with a legible TRF number, which UiO verifies online. PTE scores must be sent to the University of Oslo through your Pearson account, and you must also upload a PDF of the score report.

Needing special arrangements on test day does not exempt you from the test; UiO tells applicants to arrange accommodations with the test provider well in advance.

Cambridge C2 Proficiency or C1 Advanced (grades A-C, 180+) or B2 First grade A, taken in 2005 or later, exempt you, as does the IB with English A at 3 or more, or English B at HL 4 or SL 6. UiO also lists country-specific exemptions, for example a full upper secondary education in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland or New Zealand, or one year (60 ECTS) of English-taught university study in those countries.

Several countries are exempt through a minimum school English grade, such as Kenya (KCSE English C) and Ghana and Nigeria (WAEC English C4). India and Pakistan are not on UiO's exemption list. Branch campus, franchised and distance learning students are not exempt.

The University of Oslo's English pages we read do not set a separate English score for the student residence permit. Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your the University of Oslo programme page and in your admission decision, so check it there before you book a test.
