What Duolingo score do you need for the University of Richmond?

Richmond accepts TOEFL, IELTS and the Duolingo English Test and does not prefer one over another. SAT and ACT scores may be self-reported, but English proficiency results need an official score report.

If sending scores through the testing agency is a financial burden, Richmond will accept official score reports submitted by your high school. Test-optional admission covers SAT and ACT only; it does not remove the English proficiency requirement.

A score under 135 does not stop your application. Richmond also waives the test for at least four years at an academically rigorous English-medium secondary school, ACT English 28, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 660, or an A or B equivalent grade in AP, IB or A-level English. InitialView and Vericant interviews are optional extras.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Richmond programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
